Manora Auersperg

Manora Auersperg studied Textiles and Art Education at the Angewandte, Psychoanalytical Pedagogy at the Institute for Interdisciplinary Research at the University of Vienna and Stage and Costume Design at the Berlin University of the Arts. She graduated with a thesis on the relationship between subject, medium and object ("Der gerichtete Blick", 2002). In 2004 she became a research assistant in the Department of Textile - Free, Applied and Experimental Artistic Design, and is a Senior Lecturer since 2009.

Her teaching and artistic work are deeply interconnected, grounded in a reflexive practice that examines the relationship between the body and its spatial and social contexts. This approach negotiates material, spatial, functional, socio-social, and cultural dimensions. Both her artistic projects and the content, methods, and formats of her courses stem from a core interest in reciprocal effects, communication, and interaction. Textiles serve as both the conceptual starting point and the material expression of her creative processes. Ultimately, however, they mostly function as a medium within constellations where the body, space, and the conditions of the moment come into interplay.
