Ebba Fransén Waldhör
Ebba Fransén Waldhör is a designer, researcher, and lecturer. She is serving as the head of the Department Textiles - Free, Applied and Experimental Artistic Design since 2023.
With a background in textiles, her academic research has focused on shape-changing materials and their integration into textile architecture, as well as sustainable approaches to materiality through textile thinking, at the Weißensee Academy of Art Berlin and the Cluster of Excellence Matters of Activity at Humboldt University of Berlin.
Before that, she worked at the Design Research Lab at the Berlin University of the Arts, where her research centered on merging textiles with digital technology. Most recently, she has been involved in research and teaching in the Scenography Department at the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design, concentrating on collaborative forms of space-making.
In her artistic practice, she investigates the performative and symbolic aspects of textiles, developing temporary spatial concepts in collaboration with artists, dancers, and writers. Her extensive artistic collaborations have taken her institutions such as the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, MoMA in New York, and the Institute for Contemporary Arts in London.
