Dye lab

The dyeing department of the Department of Textiles – Free, Applied, and Experimental Artistic Design (tex) at the University of Applied Arts Vienna specializes in dyeing with natural dyes and is led by Karin Altmann.

The department offers two key courses: Technologies/Practices – Dyeing with Natural Materials and Technologies/Practices – Textile Printing. These courses continually introduce new focal points, such as Indigo and Mineral Mud Dye, Waldviertler Mud Dye, Kusakizome, Katazome, Indigo Shibori, The Creative Process of Javanese Batik, Blue Making – Blue Printing Koó, Trilogy of Colors/Yellow-Red-Blue, Dyeing with Wild Plants, and The Dye Garden.
