In the winter semester of 2023/24, Karin Altmann, a lecturer from the department of Textiles – Free, Applied, and Experimental Artistic Design (tex), collaborated with the Textile Center Haslach for the first time. This partnership explored the intersection of machine production and design, focusing on the development of processes and experiments with various materials and weaves, as well as the creative possibilities offered by the electronically controlled Jacquard weaving machine.

The Jacquard machine at the Textile Center Haslach, with a weaving width of 165 cm (comprising three 55 cm repeats), allows for the rapid production of intricate woven designs due to its ability to lift individual warp threads. This project was integrated into the Textile Center Haslach's infrastructure, with supervision provided by Elisabeth Stötzler and Andreas Selzer. Participants had access to various facilities, including the hand weaving workshop with CAD systems, the mechanical weaving workshop, and the materials warehouse. They were also able to draw inspiration from the Weaving Museum, the Textile Archive, and the library.
